Along roads and water

Zeeland invites you to keep moving, without rushing. You can explore the area at your own pace by bike, for example during the Rondje Pondje, where you cross the water with the foot ferry between Kamperland and Veere. A day trip to Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and Knokke, via the boat from Vlissingen, also allows you to experience Zeeland from a different perspective.

For longer routes, the Parelroutes (Pearl Routes), such as the one around Domburg, are a pleasant way to explore the Zeeland landscape. Or choose the Oostkapelle – Zierikzee route we have mapped out, a varied trip along waterways, villages, and sweeping views. Along the way, dykes, dunes, and open countryside set the scene, while with a little luck you may spot Zeeland's ‘big five’ birds.

The diversity of Zeeland's nature

Those who want to learn more about Zeeland's nature can participate in excursions organized by Het Zeeuwse Landschap or Terra Maris. These excursions provide insight into the origins of the area and the flora and fauna that can be found here. Scattered throughout the region, you can see how water has shaped the area. For example, the polders of Noord-Beveland were created by centuries of water management, while in the dunes near Kop van Schouwen, wind and sea continue to change the landscape. In the tidal area of Saeftinghe, water and land constantly alternate. Waterdunen shows how nature development and water safety come together. The Bos Ritthem and the Zak van Zuid-Beveland offer peace and openness. Along the Westerschelde, Fort Rammekens reminds us of the historical significance of this area.
